Perfectly legal to use it for generators, or any application that is not for on the road use. Yes, because gas prices fluctuate so wildly sometimes you find gas selling for less than diesel. But usually diesel is less. And its price is much more stable. I get 17-19 mpg in my mammoth power stroke diesel van. Unless I have a full load. Then I get 17-19 mpg.
