This is a multipart message in MIME format ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment I think it is absolutely fantastic that so many new tuners are= learning to tune aurally. Get really skilled at that, pass the= PTG Tuning test at 90 % or better, then get a SAT III, Verituner= etc.and THEN you'll see what all the ETD tuners have been= talking about. Let me put it this way. Why should I use my= ear/brain to get the string in the ballpark? It's going to= change. I'm going to have to come back and re-tune it anyway. = What am I accomplishing by that exercise? Any pitch change more= than 2 cents is going to require re-tuning that string. If you= don't think so, you haven't had an ETD to show you how much= things change. Why not use the ETD like the tool it is, no more= a crutch than your screwdriver...you could use your fingers as= God intended...why not quickly and accurately get your piano= close enough to really be able to tune it aurally. Though, not to suggest= that electronic technology is not useful - you seem to me to be= the kind of person who makes use of an ETD, rather than uses it= as a crutch. but I have learned that the quality of your unisons by far make= up for a tuning that is not 100 % accurate. That is really fascinating you say that. I have always focused a= lot of time and effort on tuning unisons, and while I am not= always happy with my temperament I usually don't mind because of= the unisons. - John ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
