Glass soundboard

In some of the recordings, there's almost too much sustain, to my ears; fast 
passages are muddied.  It's a bright sound.

I wonder if the thickness of the glass varies?  And can they float the bass 
free?  Lots of advantages in terms of harsh environments, though... no worry 
about loss of crown, since there's none to begin with.

Now, carbon fiber might be interesting...
