Yep... My PDA (used for TuneLab) went out Friday. There's another on the
way... but I had 4 tunings scheduled for today. I wasn't timing, but I
almost think I was a bit faster on the 3 regular tunings. However, I must
admit I really missed it on the Pitch Raise.

Thank God I learned Aural Techniques.

Subject: SAT went bad-good thing

My SAT II was overdue for a check-up and today it went belly-up.

SO I had to tune the old fashioned way with just the hammer, tuning fork and
some mutes. 5ths, 4ths, octaves etc. T'was a good thing. Luckily I had a
full size concert grand piano to work on.

I recommend leaving the SAT home once in a while. I tend to get a little
more reliant on it than I should and of course it is faster, but it only
took me about 15 minutes longer to do the tuning by ear than it did when I
used the SAT.

Cleans the cobwebs out of your head and brings a smile when you realize you
can still do a tuning the way we (or were supposed to have) learned.
