List - Dave Carpenter teaches a class on a method to use an ETD to assist with aural learning. The key difference between what's been mentioned so far and his method is to use the machine to "look over your shoulder". Instead of going through the whole temperament, and then checking, do one step at a time. 1. Set A4, then check with machine. 2. Next note, check against machine. And so on. This keeps any small problems from mutiplying on and on. Yes, it takes some discipline to turn the machine around and tune by ear. You can use this to study for taking the tuning test. Simple, direct, self correcting. Give it a try. If all you've got is a cheap needle-tuner, it will keep you from making any big error. Only trust it for the temperament octave, and trust your ears more... Ron Koval Chicagoland _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected?
