Tuning fork

I have seen that, but I couldn't tell you where. The method I found most useful for holding the fork was to hold the stem between my 2nd and third finger in my left hand, bang the fork on my knee and hold it up in contact with the underside of the key bed while playing the note in question (A4 usually) with my thumb. That left my right hand free to manipulate the pin while the fork and the note where playing at the same time. I don't use a fork anymore, but were I to go back to tuning aurally, I would probably get an electronic fork. Hands free, presumably unaffected by temperature.

Subject: Tuning fork

Hello

I have heard of technicians mounting tuning forks on some sort of wooden device so they can use the fork hands free. Can anyone tell me more about these? Also would anyone have a photo of one.I would like to make myself one.

Thanks,
Jack
