What materials are good (or not good) for use to space toes (feet?)

David,
I prefer plain old cotton string. It's beginning to be difficult to find,
but it seems to attach itself to the wool and stay where you put it.<G>
Best Regards,
Joe Garrett, RPT,

Try a knitting supply store. A small skein of wool yarn will last you for
about 300 years...comes in a variety of gauges and shades of white and not
expensive. You can "unwrap" the plies to get a custom gauge.
Do you increase the depth of cut between the wedges of the felt? This can
improve the efficiency of the damper and sometimes eliminate the need for
the cord.
