Kimball music desk

I am attempting to repair a music desk on a 1907 Kimball grand.  It is 
the type that has a small shelf on the bottom that you rotate out when 
you raise the back.  It shows evidence of being broken and repaired 
several times.  Can someone tell me what type of hardware, if any, was 
original?  On what did it hinge?  What kind of stop was there to keep it 
from rotating too far?  I have the wood parts, but nothing else.
