Hello list et al
I, like Herr D L Bullock, have made up my own "set-off bridge" I used a =
couple of old cast upright action frames (because they are HEAVY) and =
attached, on the cantilevered principle, a heavy 2" x 1" main frame on =
the top of which protrudes two blocks of wood. Attached to these blocks =
by means of screws is a long bar of wood which has a vertical slot in =
each end through which screws go into the two blocks. This makes =
vertical adjustment of the "set-off rail" possible. I use an engineers =
depth rule to measure the distance from the underside of each string =
section and then replicate this dimension in my "set-off rail". Because =
of the overall weight of this tool it stays rigidly where I put it =
(behind the grand action on the bench or clients' table) thereby making =
regulation of the grand action out of the piano an absolute d.o.d.d.l.e.
I hope my description of the beast is enough - but if a piccy is =
required this too can be arranged...
Regards from the Sussex Downs where, after a sunny day, night is fast =
falling...
