Hi John,
Made the same decision years ago after much loss of blood and noticing that
if the becket were made with a sharp bend in the first place, it would not
slip out. So when there is room I pre-form the bend prior to putting the
wire in the tuning pin hole. I use a round shape plier from the '30s that
has a mark where the .282" bend can be made. With this plier I get a very
sharp 90% bend even on the largest wire.
