Hi Dave
Check theyre price list Also Dave Hughes, Alias Vintage case parts makes
vintage legs. Why of course. $1800.00 un finished for the nice picture frame
legs of the 20's
   Dale

The Steinway D at a casino theatre(1200 seats) is
moved allot, often 2 shows a day.
The ends of the legs, become easily chipped around
the bottom just from the torque of the massive bass
wheels on it. In fact the screws that hold the wheels
through the sides of the bass square leg insert
sometimes sheer right off. Resulting in play and
chipping.
The whole piano end sat 1/4" low yesterday
due to another sheered screw. The wheel assembly was
twisting under the weight. Legs have become damaged
over time.

This most recent problem just presented itself, and
I leave on vacation in the morning. Would like to
send them some quotes/solutions, but can not phone
suppliers today. Perhaps someone from the list
can help get my thinking in the ballpark here.

How much is a set of legs/wheels for a D?
They proposed a spare set, so a damaged one can be
removed and sent off for repair and finishing while
using a spare. Can one purchase just the end leg,(for
how much) or is it a set deal always?

Someone mentioned a hydraulic lift that rolls under
the piano and lifts the frame and inch for moving.
Never seen one. Who supplies these(Yamaha was
mentioned, but this is now 3rd hand information)and
how much are they?

Sorry for all the specific questions, but I need
answers now, on a Saturday, if that is possible, for
I am leaving.

This could open up an interesting discussion
on heavily used concert pianos, and habits related
to care, moving, storage, spare parts on location,
spare set of string, cabinet care, on location
touch up..............

Cheers
