---------------------- multipart/mixed attachment >MS Word is not as "standard" as you think it is. There is MS Word 6.0; MS >Word for 95; MS Word for 97/2000/XP and each one is lightly different in >format. I'm using OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) and it allows you to >save an MS Word document in each one of these formats. And, for that >matter, Outlook Express 6.0 may not be able to read all of these formats. Outlook express doesn't read ANY of these formats, nor does it attempt to unless, of course, it's a virus - which it will embrace like a long lost sibling. This is an attachment with a ".DOC" suffix, and is read, or not read, by the version of Word installed on the recipient's system. First, check the file association. Right click on the attachment and go to "open with" to insure that at the very least it is Word that is trying to open the file, rather than something totally unsuited. If it opens in a readable format, great. If not, it was apparently not meant to be read on your system. Accept it, and mail in $25 to Microsoft in hopes that they won't sue you for attempting to do anything nominally productive with their purported operating system du jour. I hope that's not too negative... Ron N ---------------------- multipart/mixed attachment--
