The string load deflects the plate to some nominal degree. And to some nominal degree those pianos using nosebolts that are actually adjusted correctly do help stabilize the plate. (What about all those pianos lacking both nosebolts and bellybracing?) But unless there is some mechanism to couple direct string load down to the bellyrail and/or the bellybraces these systems cannot directly support string load to any significant degree. Del
