Not so, Joe.

It fact I have a tool with two pulleys attached to a piece of wood
specifically for such an activity. Works great!

Don't know where I got the idea, either here on the list or from the
journal, but it certainly beats tying an overhand knot in the dead
bass strings and moving that up and down the string, or thumping away
on a de-tensioned string.
