The treble bell is not structural, hence scaling tensions have little, if
anything, to do with its function. The system, including the coupling bolt,
mass-couples the plate panel to the quite massive rim assembly. It will
serve this function in pianos of any scale tension. Note, there is little
significant difference in scaling tensions through the treble section
between the various models. Of more significance are the acres of plate
space behind the hitchpin panel found in the larger pianos.
