Hi folks. Been experiencing some unexplainable slow downs on my hot shot nearly new pentium 4 machine the past couple weeks, and I started getting a bit suspicious as to what was going on. So I downloaded an anti Adware program, found a couple little Ad spyware files... no biggie... also downloaded an anti trojan program... it found no trojans but found port 5000 open... a known trojan port. Seems like the only way to close this port is to turn off the Universal Plug and Play feature on XP... and as I didnt need this feature... and dont want it anyways... I downloaded a program to disable the thing and wooooaaahh!! Suddenly all the speed was back in my machine. Its down right cooking with speed now. I dont really know what was up... but something was utilizing that port and it was taking up a lot of my CPU's attention. I think I gotta recommend turning off this << Feature >> of XP.
