Kelly makes the plates to Steinways specification. And one thing that Ron mentioned I'll agree with.... namely that this issue isnt about this piano or the other. IMV its about when exactly do design changes as part of a rebuild so significantly alter the origional intent and purpose of the manufacturer that it should no longer bear only that manufacturers name. And if and when that border is crossed, why then should not the rebuilder be most interested indeed in profiling saids own good name in some appropriate manner on the fallboard, or in some other discrete yet very visable position ? As said, I am rather conservative in my view here. I dont think much of any design issue should be changed unless one is both willing and wanting to mark the instrument accordingly.
