Ned, When I first started using RCT on a Windows laptop, I bought a lapel mic, as recommended in the RCT manual. Quickly learned that it was more trouble than it was worth. One more thing to carry around, take out of the bag, set it up, put it away, leave switch on and kill the batteries (that's right, the mic has its own batteries)... all that for no performance gain over the built-in mic. Any problems I had were eventually solved with record volume settings in Windows, and with computer placement on the piano. Now I use Pocket RCT. Send me a couple bucks for postage, and I'll send you my lapel mic. hope this helps Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ned Swift" <swiftspiano@hotmail.com> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 7:09 PM Subject: Lap top ETD microphones > Hi all, > > I have always used the built in microphone on my laptop for tuning.
