What we would do in the shop would be to juice them with about a 1-4 mixture of lacquer and thinner. Apply just off the strike point and 'fill' the hammer. About the top 16 notes or so is usually all that is needed. Same with Ronson hammers though I don't believe the Ronsons need quite as much juice. The Bass section sometimes gets a fill from low to mid shoulder, even higher to bring out some sizzle. Of course don't send it to the voicer without all the traveling done and the hammers straightened. Lucky me, when I did that, he said if they were too bright he could wash the lacquer in farther with some acetone. And the acetone dries really quick so it won't slow you up.
