Soundboard wheel

Hi Roy, I do not have one of these, but am trying to understand it's use. It appears to me this device would simply crush the edges of the crack into a "V" opening into which you could glue a shim. But then would this not leave a layer of severely damaged/crushed wood at the glue joint that will not be able to resist cracking when the board dries out?

Schaff #142, page 42 of current catalogue. Has anyone got one you'd like to part with? It's been discontinued.

Thanks
