Look for broken action brackets, or try to remove the action.  I had one 
"fallover" in which the keybed actually separated. The result was that the 
bottom of the action was now closer to the strings, the damper levers hit 
strings when played and the action bolts were bent up by the action 
brackets which were then firmly wedged in place. The fallboard hinges 
haven't been the same since, either.
