There were 2 C's.  You are correct that there was a C which was 5'8".   It 
was made until the late 90's and sold as a "Classic".  I had forgotten 
whether that  C was 5'8" or 5'7" becaise it was replaced in the Baldwin 
lineup with the Chickering 507.   There was also a 6'3" C which they made 
from around 1900.  I'm not sure of the exact date.  I rebuilt a 1905 C a 
couple years ago.    The 6'3" Baldwin in my shop now which is pre 1900, and 
it doesn't have a model designation cast on it.    Anyways, the C became the 
SC, then the L..  Now the L1.
