I would think with 3/4" plugs, some of the plugs would have a glue joint running right through the middle of the tuning pin hole. I should think that if 3/4" inch plugs were needed to improve the structural integrity of the block, the block was not a good candidate for plugging in the first place. But I could be wrong.
