So? Not ready to sacrifice a piano in the cause of science? Isn't that 
what grant writing is for?

Probably easier to get chummy with someone in a forestry or wood 
technology department of a nearby university, who can help you run the 
experiment outlined by Ron & Del. They can probably give you published 
studies too, but sounds like you're feeling a bit too skeptical for 
that.
