While balancing keys on an SS-B I find that my target up/down weights can
be had by either placing a small lead closer to the front rail or a larger
lead closer to the balance rail.
I know to stay clear of the mortises but other than that is there a prefered
area of the key for leads? Another question is inertia - if I use the small
lead near the front rail would this give more inertia than a large lead near
the balance rail? It certainly did not feel different while experimenting.
Is there an easy way to measure inertia in the keys?
Thank you for your thoughts.
