> Could the installer have put a hard chunk of something like hammer > felt under the front of the pedal to limit it's downward travel? > No Greg..good thought though. Remember..when I put a spring on the damper tray, I gained the 4 mil I was looking for, but then came the problem with the 60+ capstans, and I didn't have the time to do that today. Is that the only option you can see, from my description(add a spring and regulate from there)? The only problem I see with this is that if I do that(dealer would have to approve the work..they just moved it here from Minnesota), there is STILL the possibility that the 'clunk' will be there, because I do believe it is bottoming out in the pedal lyre. Obviously what I think I need is to gain the 4 mil when the pedal is at rest, and I get that by adding the spring....but... I honestly was hoping to hear from someone with Boston experience(Mr. Farrell) and/or PianoDisc..Heard from Dave Bunch(Hi pal!) whose PianoDisc experience is vast, but this might be a combination PD/Boston design issue..I'm not really sure.
