Hi Alan,
Sorry I shuld not have gotten sidetracked onto another tool when talking
about the fitting block. That is most likely where I lost you.
The fitting block is used as a tool for very fine removal of felt at any
string to hammer inpact point. There are four sanding surfaces.
1. to remove felt from one string center only
2. to remove felt from the outside string only ( left/right by turning the
block arround )
3. to remove felt from any two string surfaces ( left/right as above )
4. all three string contact points ( seldom used ) if you need to start over
or the hammer shows that the outside is blocking heavier than the center.
