muting strings

I, too, mute all the bicords and tricords with strip mutes, but mine are not
the generic strip mutes from supply houses.  I use back rail cloth for the
center section about .145" thick and action clothe forthebicords and upper
tricords about .139" thick.  The mutes will "leak" if the are not snug.  To
reduce this, I lift up on the bottom edge of the strips so fold between the
strings is at an angle.  Also run the mutes as close as possible to the
strike point.  The center section tricords are the only ones that seem to
leak.
