Chuck, My local Sears store has been running a sale, $12 each, on what they call a "performance utility light". Electronic balast gives it instant start (no flicker) and no hum. The box also says 90% more light using 25% less energy. Has the Energy Star logo. American Fluorescent Corp part number 234SLESW, UPC 37949 29177. I've got them in my shop, with Philips F32T8/TL735/ALTO tubes, very natural light, at $4 each. The T8 tube is smaller diameter; This leaves a larger gap between the tube and the reflector, which I was told allows more light to be reflected out into the room. hope this helps, Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: <Christus4@aol.com> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Friday, September 13, 2002 12:50 AM Subject: Shop lights > List, > > Can anyone recommend a type of fluorescent fixture and/or bulbs for the shop > that operate quietly? > We've all heard the drone of the typical light set-up in many garages, > kitchens, and shops.
