Tuning spinets with TuneLab

TuneLab has been revised to handle spinets in a special way. Based on a
suggestion by Jim Coleman, Sr. on tuning spinets, TuneLab can now project
two independent inharmonicity curves for the portions of the scale above
and below the break between wound and plain strings. The tuning curve is
adjusted in the normal way for the portion above the break. The tuning
curve below the break is made to produce beatless 6:3 octaves all the way
down. This may result in a discontinuity in the major thirds and tenths,
but at least the octaves are clean.

This optional way of tuning is available in both the laptop and the Pocket
PC versions of TuneLab. Free trial versions are available at
www.tunelab-world.com.
