removing key pins

Then you already know the "get a bigger hammer" theory of gentle persuasion 
too. Nothing beats pre-qualification. Make a slide hammer from a Vise-Grip, 
the weight from a dent puller, and a steel rod of appropriate size, 
threaded on the end to fit where the adjustment screw of the Vise-Grip 
originally was. Grip each key pin and whack it right out.
