I know this isn''t your way and I'm sure other technicians will respond to
your specific method, but I'll tell you mine just in case you may find it
beneficial at some other juncture or where materials, tools, parts and shop
conditions aren't available to complete the job when needed or on time.

I use medium viscosity cyanoacrylate glue to form a membrane over the balance
rail hole in the key. Then I shoot it with accelerator and quickly blow the
membrane into the hole with my mouth before it dries. I'm careful not to blow
too hard because it can easily reach the key button bushings and ruin them.
When you do this you can build up the sides of the hole very evenly and fully
if this process is repeated to the point where the hole is at the diameter of
the balance rail pin. When at this point insert a round file the diameter of
the balance rail pin and apply right and left side pressure to elongate the
hole on the sides for easy maneuverability of the key. You can get the keys
to be completely secure from front to back this way if you do it right. I
judge the key functional when I drop it in and it falls easily to the front
rail punching and doesn't have any front to back play.
