Hello Dale, I know people are going to jump all over me for saying this but I seldom see complete crown failure in older Steinways and other high quality grands, and this in North Texas (DFW) where there is a substantial swing in the climate over the seasons. The boards may have cracks, and even these are, in my experience, frequently predictable as to their probable location, but there is seldom, a complete loss of crown. Flame suit on, water bucket handy and fire extinguisher nearby. Regards, Robin Hufford Erwinspiano@AOL.COM wrote: > Part 1.1 Type: Plain Text (text/plain) > Encoding: 7bit
