I had never met Newton. But he helped me today. I repaired the damper tray flanges on a small grand and regulated the dampers (which had to come out to get to the damper tray). I got the call for the job on Wednesday. Stopped by the church and looked at the piano - took about 8 seconds to see the problem. Wipped out my copy of "The Piano Technician's Guide" by Newton J. Hunt, told the Pastor it would take about X hours and cost no more than $XX. I did the work today, came in $15 under budget. Pastor was happy, and so was I. But now I am saddened. Thank you Newton for the giving. I hope when I gain enough wisdom I can do the same.
