Del, Until you've tuned a duplex scale properly, you are still branding yourself as a duplexophobe. You may be right that a number of manufacturers are including duplex scales because of the popularity of the feature. But that, in and of itself should indicate the power and importance the duplex scale has exerted in the piano manufacturing industry. Del, here's a chance for a Duplex Showdown, something like a Tuneoff with Virgil and Jim. It might be fun for the winner, and a great deal of value for the membership if you would accept a challenge to tune or detune duplex scales. Of course I chose to tune them. I would be glad to pay my own way to challenge you to a duplex scale tuneoff in which I would attempt to prove that tuning the duplex scale is of immeasureable value. Your point would be, as I understand you, that tuning the duplex scale is a waste of time and indeed destroys piano tone. Let's have a match! Dan Franklin
