Hello List,

A quick inquiry regarding a piano I service at a small church here in
rural WV. There is nothing wrong with it, actually it is a heck of an
instrument. It is a Yamaha U7. 52" tall. Serial No. H3517039. According
to Pierce it was made in 1982.

It is a 26 bass scale, agraffes from note 1 to 88, there is an
auxilliary damper on note 27. It has a full sostenuto. Visually, it is
not very easy on the eyes. It is an unusual veneer, teak I think, with
vertical grain on the sides, grain running front to back on the top, and
left to right on the front panel, up and down on the kick board.

It has no front legs, and very short toe blocks...4-5". Did I mention
that this is an unattractive piano?

This is not a model I'm familiar with. I see lots of U1's etc. but
never before a U7.

Do many of you encounter this model? When and why was it dropped.
Checking Yamaha's webpage the largest professional upright is a U5. As
I said, other than the fact that it is butt ugly, it is a nice
sounding/playing piano.

Just wondering how it made its way to Salt Rock, WV

Sorry to have digressed...we can get back to grammer lessons now <grin>
