Credit Cards

I've gotten a few bigger jobs like refinishing because I take credit cards
which I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.  At first I didn't want to do
tunings on credit cards, but I found it wasn't too bad.  The credit card
company takes 3%, some people think that is too much, but I can live with it
if it keeps my clients happy.  I don't get but a handful of these jobs per
year anyway, but the clients seem to like the option and it gives them
reassurance of credibility.

I've also gotten calls from insurance companies that just want me to bill
them this way so they can be done with it

If you decide to do it, you will have to purchase a terminal.  I pay $9.00
per month. It takes a couple of years to pay it off.  Once that is paid off,
I will own the terminal and will only have the 3% charge.

The process only takes a few seconds on my machine.  I swipe the card, put
in the last 4 and the amount, blink twice and have the authorization #.
It's faster than some grocery stores I've been to.  I just plug into their
telephone jack right there in the house.  The money is direct deposited into
my business account usually within two days.

I thought at first that it might be a hassle to take credit cards, but it's
really not.  It's just another form of currency in today's computer world.
