et al;
 Whippen assist springs are a boon to the tech seeking to maximize
performance but they are just an 'incremental' help and not a cure all
thingee. As in most things we do WAS must be properly regulated in order to
maximize performance and can not be just screwed on and 'viola' all problems
solved.
 Methinks sometimes we get too wrapped up in the 'numbers' of regulation and
don't concentrate on how the action actually performs............generally
speaking the better the 'numbers' the better an action will
perform............but the BW/FW/SW/F are just indicators and not an end unto
themselves. Like factory specs that won't work on all models, the 'numbers'
of regulation are guides and we should not slavishly strive for
them....forcing them to fit where they are not appropiate.
 Do not simply dismiss the Whippen Assist Spring thingees, for to do so would
remove a valuable tool in our bag of 'tricks'
................................................
...................................................this business 'is' 90%
perception you know!! :-)
My view.
