I encountered an upright of this brand with the same thing, only the
lady had 
the original booklet from the manufacturer passed down thru the family.
This 
booklet goes on about the wonderful gold strings. I'll search around for
my 
notes on this.
Her great aunt purchased the piano in Baltimore around 1890.
