I think, given a 30 + year run, that it is probably not so important whether the piano is a CBS piano or not. Probably its been sitting without decent service, and with less then optimal climatic conditions. Pianos simply need decent care and decent air. Take the nicest Gibson or Martin guitar you can find, play it 20 minutes every day and hang it up in a window with lots of sun when not useing it. It will probably disintegrate within 5 years or so.
