All, I would like to thank all of you for welcoming me to the list, and for your replies to my question! I am fortunate that my husband is very much into heavy-duty tools, and we have an air compressor in our garage. "No dear, I can't just get the 110 Volt one, that would not be powerful enough..." :) So I started dusting with that yesterday (after vacuuming first), to get rid of 100+ year old dust. I have taken the action apart. The assemblies are still very dark with dirt. The next step will be to get that clean. To answer some of the questions that were asked: > What brand of piano are you working on? It is an "S.R. Leland & Sons, Worcester". Since I'm in MA, I assume it's Worcester, MA. I could not find any info at all about this company on the Internet, and the person that gave it to me said that there is no mention in it in the Pierce Piano Atlas either. Must be a stencil brand. Obviously, I do not expect to make any $$ off my rebuilding endeavor. The experience in itself is enjoyable and rewarding. For a person on the steep end of the learning curve there is no better thing than getting their hands dirty on the real thing (pun intended). > Just curious, where are you taking a piano technology course? I am taking the Randy Potter correspondence course. Given that I haven't quit my day job yet and do a lot of business travel, this is a perfect way for me to get started. Thanks again for the warm welcome. Regards, /Claudia
