(strings with really buzzy windings, or something like that) Everybody is worried about rescaling pianos because the way certain pianos were originally strung (which keys have which size strings) makes it impossible to perfectly voice them, makes one section inappropriately more powerful than another, makes them prone to string breakage, or any number of other problems. They're just looking at the piano's dimensions and so forth and coming up with a plan for string sizes that will result in the smoothest transitions from one string size to another. -Tyler
