It is effective , but not as much on a grand (why ?)

Beside, the first thing to do is to isolate the feet of the piano (grand or
vertical) from the floor to avoid all the solid sound conduction, mostly the
low frequencies, that can travel very far within the building structure,
walls and floors.

A simple hard latex piece under the feet is very efficient and cheap (kind
of things used under the machines in the workshops)

  I have a Yamaha P22 that I have inserted Foam Baffles between the struts
and it DOES reduce the volume to a MODERATE degree. You certainly could try
this between the strutes of a grand, i would think.
