Muting high treble

Hi list,
  I remember Al Sanderson, saying it was best to tune unisons as you go,for 
better stability when pitch raising,using FAC.I have gotten lately to where I 
will strip mute up to the treble break in uprights,tune single strings up to 
there,then go past the break three or four notes,tuning all strings,then go 
back and tune unisons up to the break,then finish tuning all strings as I 
go.Why,who knows?
