Thanks for all the interesting background stuff on Steinways, etc. My church has an 1899 model A - all original, all worn out, all rosewood. I hope someday to have the opportunity to restore it. I can sure tell the difference in tone between a well-preserved 1930s Acrosonic and a Kimball, but it amazes me how long it takes to develop a refined sense of piano tone. I can see myself slowly developing these abilities, but there is so much that people describe that I just plain don't hear. I like reading the type of info you have shared - I use that to then go and listen to these pianos and see if I can hear what the person was describing. Thanks.
