All, What you need to know about fire damage is volumes, but the main objects of concern are heat, moisture and ACID, (that is created by the burning). The more plastics and synthetics are involved, the more problem the acid will be. My policy for fire damaged pianos is that the piano should be cleaned up ASAP and then left alone for at least 6 months. Then a tuning should be attempted. Once it is established that there has not been any structural damage to the piano, then, and only then, should repairs be done.
