Hello. I bought a small business from the wife of a tuner that died a few years ago. Basically, I just got a box of index cards. We went through the records and totaled up the gross income over the last year. We divided that number by two, and that was the price I paid for the box of cards. The wife also sent a letter to each customer saying that the former tuner had died and that Terry Farrell would be happy to serve you in the future. It worked out pretty good. I have tuned about 75% of those pianos, many several times now. I think it was a fair deal - any more and it would not have been great for me, any less and the family would have been short-changed. Hope this might help.
