Electric Soundboard (fun stuff)

I did a search on "piano soundboard panel" and came up with the following:

It is apparently an electric amplifier - to be used for a guitar I guess,
but instead of having a speaker, it has a spruce soundboard on the front
that is electrically driven somehow.

What is this? Some kind of retro somethingorother? What'll they think of
next?
