Dale writes, > drying to 30% R.H./6 % emc, Ever wonder how Relative Humidity relates to Equilibrium Moisture Content? I know Dale knows, but I just wanted to remind those who don't have it yet, that the Wood Handbook is available (FREE!) in electronic form at http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/FPLGTR/fplgtr113/fplgtr113.htm The subtitle is Wood as an Engineering Material, and you can download a chapter at a time (you will need Acrobat Reader for these .pdf files). The wonderful Table 3-4 lists EMC for various combinations of temperature and humidity. For instance, if you are drying a soundboard panel and your hotbox is running at 90 degrees F, 30% relative humidity will give you 5.9% EMC. You can achieve the same moisture content in the wood in a 130 degree hotbox at 35% RH. Bob Davis
