Tension is variable to some degree. More important, in the treble, is inharmonicity. In the bass loudness factor is a better place to begin, then %breaking, then Inh and finally tension. Inh controls tunability and tone somewhat %break reflects durability and tuning stability loudness reflects jumps in scaling tension is a consideration in trying to make it as even as reasonable and to take plate construction into account. All of them taken together can make a piano sound pretty good. It is a balancing act, one element against or with another. Lots of fun. Good luck. Newton
